There are no shortages of good ideas in systems and software management and engineering, but few are practiced.

And those good ideas: which should go first and then which should go next, and how are they are related? We select and apply frameworks to help our clients figure out where to "hang" their existing and new knowledge, to make sense of and see the connections among all of the advice they get, all of the forces they need to address. The frameworks are also a kind of shorthand, a dialect, that can be used to identify key and missing pieces.

Examples of the many frameworks we know and apply are The Discipline of Market Leaders, Balanced Scorecard, Burton and Obel's contingency framework for the best ways to organize, and Talcott Parsons' four functional prerequisites to organizational survival and growth as a description of how organizations work.

We focus on adoption, deployment, implementation, transition: putting best practices into actual practice. We concentrate on selecting those practices best suited to our clients and then helping them improve in order to deploy those practices.

We offer advisory services related to systems and software improvement. Our specialty is helping organizations change the ways they work, particularly with respect to model-based improvement initiatives ( SEI CMM/CMMIs, ISO 9000, ISO 12207, Baldrige, etc.).

We use a mutual adaptation approach: the organization changes to accommodate the technology, and the technology is tailored to accommodate the organization.
